q&a
Why communications?
I love listening to people's stories, and interpreting thoughts/actions/feelings into words which become stories that inspire others. That exchange envelops me in the unique, beautiful experience of being human.
What are your interests or aspirations in communication?
I very much enjoy graphic design and am intrigued by the magazine medium. Although I dream of writing, designing, or editing for a magazine, I know that the public is slowly losing interest in print. My ultimate aspiration lies simply in using my talents in communications media to communicate the Gospel to others, whether by working for ministries, churches, or by inspiring people through secular work.
Other than college textbooks, what do you read, and why?
Listening to others' opinions and stories is one of my favorite aspects of interpersonal communication. So, I enjoy biographies and historical novels. Poetry captivates me, especially when crafted by artists like e.e. cummings, Pablo Neruda, Naomi Shihab Nye and G.K. Chesterton. Some of my favorite novels were written by Jane Austen and J.R.R. Tolkien. I love reading magazines, plays, song lyrics, cereal boxes, newspapers, and billboards. They all communicate something unique and inspiring about the human condition.
What are your goals, personal and professional?
I aspire to become a more self-confident young woman. I am determined to use my talents to communicate God's love to others. At this point in my life, my professional goal is to obtain an internship.
What motivates you?
What motivates me is my belief that a loving God exists and acts in our world. Every day, my need and desire to share this incredible Love with more people give birth to an ardent interest in the communications media.
